Why do I need a Bail Bondsman?
Often the bond amount set by the court is just too high to afford. When you hire a bail bondsman, you pay only a small percentage of the bond amount as a fee to the bail bondsman, and when the required court appearance(s) are made, the terms and conditions of the bail bond are met, and the judge releases the bail bond, your obligations as a cosigner will be released. A bail bondsman also offers you the knowledge and experience necessary to help you through the process before, during, and after the time that bond is posted.
What is a Co-signer and what does being one mean?
When you agree to become a Co-signer on a Bail Bond you are promising that the person released from jail (defendant) will go to all court appearances and will abide by the terms and conditions of the Bail Bond.
How much does a Bail Bond cost?
This is up to the Bail Bondsman that you hire to post the bail bond, although in the State of Colorado the maximum amount allowed is 15% of the Bail Bond amount, or a minimum charge of $50.00. Additional booking, bail bond posting fee’s required by the jail are also your responsibility.
